Got to work and had 3 miles left to reach my goal. No problem. 9 mile commute home, so easy. Until…..
As I was rolling my bike out the door I spotted a rip in the tread of the front tire. Hmm. But I could make it home. Nope. Got 2/3 of a mile and the tire let go. No patching that unless I had some dollar bills to line the inside of the tire (old trick but I didn’t have any cash).
Got some very appreciated help from Floyd Kezele got me a ride home.
Not feeling like fighting with the road bike into hopped on my mountain bike and got the miles I needed.
So 200 miles plus a smidge. Not anywhere near the 1100 I did a few years ago.
Thank you to everyone that donated to the Children’s Cancer Research Fund through this event. You are all awesome.
After a rough first few days back on the bike I already am starting to feel a bit stronger. I am still not anywhere near ready to tackle some of the long rides and steep climbs of a couple years ago, but I am improving.
After the last two days of rains, and overnight thunderstorms, I went for a ride. Winds were 15 gusting to 30 MPH, so I went into the wind heading out, giving me a tailwind for the ride back.
If the weather app is correct the upcoming week looks favorable to riding to work and back each day.
The rain last night did make a few spots not so nice to ride, but overall it went well.
With the donations that came in on the matching donation day you have helped crush my fundraising goal, more than doubling it. You are all so generous, not just with funding, but with well wishes and support. Thanks to all of you.
