It's A Wrap With New Records Achieved

The September month long Great Cycle Challenge has ended for this year. Here are the fundraising stats and miles ridden in support of Children's Cancer Research.

It has been another record setting year thanks to my terrific and generous family and friends. Seems we are able to set the bar higher each year in our efforts! My sincere appreciation goes out to all of you that are a part of the team to battle children's cancer and give them a chance to enjoy life!!! I am so very happy that all of you share my passion for supporting this wonderful cause!!! As long as I can turn my pedals, I will be an active participant, and your support certainly gives me the fire I need to forge ahead!

I have had many wonderful experiences along the way, and had a wonderful riding partner, Laura Crossman, who is as passionate about this cause as I am. She managed to achieve new records for herself. She achieved a new record in fundraising, and she blew the doors off her mileage goal achieving 1,118 miles for the month. She hadn't intended to ride on the 30th until I mentioned that I was going for a new mileage record and I wanted her to finish 1st for the month, so after work, she rode in the wind, using my name in vain, and accumulated the miles required to finish in 1st place in NYS for miles ridden for the cause. That's dedication!

I cannot thank you all enough for all the support you've given! The willingness to give your financial support, your kind words of support and encouragement, and to those that have ridden with me throughout the challenge bring emotions that cannot be expressed, and you are all so very much appreciated.

Closing Days, Still Time To Donate

We're closing in on the final days of the challenge to support Children's Cancer Research. It has been another phenomenal year of both riding and fundraising.

I've had a few things interrupt my schedule for riding and still have some appointments to break up my time in the coming days, but I intend to make it to 1,000 miles for the challenge. I'm at 849 as I write this and plan to do another 60+ today. I'll have 18 riding days in total for the challenge thru Sep 30th.

We are so close to the $7,000 mark for funds raised for Children's Cancer Research. We presently stand at $6,882. Just another $118 will get us to $7,000 and give these kids that we ride for a chance to experience a normal life!!

As always, I appreciate your support both in terms of donations and the many kind words of encouragement that I receive each year that I participate in this challenge.

The last 7 out of my 10 years participating, we have earned the Hero's jersey. This is awarded when we raise over $2,500. Each time we earn this, I gift it to Lillian's brother Christian in honor of his sister. There's a photo of him sporting this year's Hero's jersey with the Wolverine theme.

Century Ride For Children's Cancer Research

Had an awesome day yesterday doing a century ride with my very good friend and fellow GCC rider, Laura Crossman!! Conditions were perfect to get this ride in and grab a bunch of miles towards our ride goal. Stopped off to see my wonderful friends and supporters, Gil and Deb Smith along the ride. Just an amazing day with a wonderful riding partner!!

Overwhelmed, But In A Good Way!!

WOW!!! What an incredible day it was yesterday on Matching Day!! The words I'll write here cannot begin to express my gratitude for the support I received yesterday and for all the inspirational messages of support!!! To my family and friends, both near and far, I am indebted to your kindness and generosity that you continue to provide for this cause year after year!

After sending out reminders for Matching Day yesterday, I grabbed a quick 50 miles on the bike. I’ll plan to get a few more miles in today and send personal messages to each of you through my GCC page. I hope to reply to everyone today.

Thanks to everyone that responded on Matching Day and the generous support of the matching donor, we are well on our way to a record setting year!!!

Thank you all once again for your support and generosity. It is something that both affirms and inspires me to continue the effort for this cause and to give children a chance to live life. We make a great team, and I admire all of you!!!
