I am participating in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer this September!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. This year I’m riding to celebrate my granddaughter, Brooke, who last October was diagnosed with Burkitt's Lymphoma. Brooke had a tumor that was almost completely blocking her airway. Brooke is in remission for 2.5 years thanks to the doctors, nurses, & staff at Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania. As a family, we look forward to hitting the 5-year mark when Brooke will be categorized as a pediatric cancer survivor. Brooke is now 11 years old and loves to dance, play volleyball, attend youth group & church, and participate in activities that preteens want to participate in.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So, I am raising funds through my challenge to help children like Brooke and support the Children's Cancer Research Fund, which allows them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer. Let's make this year our largest fundraiser yet. I have previously raised over $1500 in one year, and this year, my dream is to exceed that. I understand times are tough, but it took a village to help Brooke, and it will take a village to raise the funds needed to beat childhood cancer.
